We are incredibly proud to share that our founder and CEO, Tony Dodunski, recently spoke at Lincoln University’s third annual Food and Fibre Awards, sitting on a panel hosted by Professor Derrick Moot, alongside Harri Wulff, Winseed R&D Manager.
This prestigious event celebrated the achievements of top-performing students while providing them with the opportunity to engage with leaders across the agricultural industry.
During the event, Tony shared his inspiring journey from his time as a university student, to dairy farming, and eventually founding Ag Assist. He spoke about the early days of Ag Assist, and how he learned from double-sided consumer platforms like Uber and Tinder. This knowledge became the foundation for building a platform that serves both farmers and workers with an under utilised workforce.
A central theme in the panel discussion was the vital role Lincoln University plays in equipping students with the skills, networks, and opportunities to thrive in the agricultural sector. Emphasis was placed on the university’s supportive environment and how it helps students find their own unique path in the industry, regardless of where they start.
The night was even more special as we watched many Ag Assisters walk across the stage as award recipients. In particular, we were thrilled to witness Josh van der Poel, receive the Top Student Award for his Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) (2nd year). Seeing students like Josh excel in their studies while focusing on the development of their practical skills, fills us with immense pride and reinforces our belief in the future of New Zealand’s agricultural sector.
The Food and Fibre Awards were a true celebration of talent, hard work, and the bright future ahead for the next generation of agricultural leaders. Tony’s story and the success of multiple students demonstrates the endless possibilities for those passionate about agriculture.
